We are responding to your September 19 letter. This prior debt to NY Fairness PAC, which the Committee extinguished on September 11 (see October Quarterly Report, pp. 315 and 351), consisted of the following. NY Fairness PAC made payments of $40,000 to a digital services firm and $8,651.89 for travel expenses (since determined to have totaled $7,933.29) for matters that related to exploratory activity at the time the commitments were made prior to Mayor de Blasio becoming a candidate on May 15, after which the Committee reviewed this spending and determined that the Committee should have paid for these expenses. On June 4, due to an administrative error, an automatic ACH rent payment transfer of $4,200 from NY Fairness PAC occurred despite the Committee’s expectation that this transfer would not recur. Because the Committee should have made all of these payments, it duly reported their total on the July Quarterly Report on Schedule D-P, “Debts and Obligations with the memo entry “Travel Expenses, Digital Advertising, Rent (rather than on Schedule C-P, “Loans, because none of the original payments were loans).
